I Never Want To Live In A Digital Content Cloud

There is not much that I will agree with the President of Nintendo. He is as arrogant as the President of Sony and has been pretty ruthless over the years. Nintendo has a reputation of being this benign company that is absolutely kid friendly and easy going. That could not be further from the truth. Nintendo is a typical Japanese company -- work till you drop and produce like robots.

But, it is Nintendo... and I own a 3DS XL. And, I LOVE IT!

I do agree with the President of Nintendo about this Cloud Gaming thing. Actually, the entire Cloud creation in general is too crazy of a concept for me to embrace.

You tell me, Microsoft or Sony, that you now want me to store all my digital information in your Cloud where you control it and have complete access to the content? You can decide to hold my content from me if you desire. You can manipulate my information at your discretion. If your servers go down, my information is lost to me. There are too many "ifs" for me to go anywhere near the Clouds of these companies. No way!

I want to control my own personal information. I want it on my own hard drive, my own disc, played in my own gaming machine. I do not want to stream anything! I want to go to Walmart and buy my own four disc box set, take it home, take out a disc and place it into my player. I want that control.

I want to hold my content inn my hands. I want to read the labels, read the liner notes, study the art work and photos and do with my physical content as I please... not try to access my stuff from the control of these companies. Are you kidding me?

This is the kind of 1984 big brother craziness we all feared thirty years ago. And now it is here slapping us in our faces. And, people are marching right over the big brother cliff like Lemmings blindly marching one after another.

And this is frightening.

Well, not me. I'll stay old school. And when Sony and Microsoft refuse to give you access to the content you have stored in their stupid Cloud... I'll be laughing at your stupid, drone asses as I pull out my Fallout 3 disc and place it into my X-BOX 360, without the consent of big brother!

Yea, I agree with Nintendo. And I hope they resist to the end that will never come.
